Ebay...
I've been stalking the elusive great-deal-on-ebay for months and it's finally come down to it. Seventeen minutes left and it hasn't budged in days. I'm writing this blog just to pass the time.
Sixteen minutes, still no new bids. My bike's been ready to fall apart for months and I think it's time I get something a little nicer. This Centurion Ironman Master is just about perfect. The size, the geometry, the steel; all perfect for my dimensions and weight. It even has a nice red and silver finish instead of the usual pink and yellow found on this model.
12 minutes, still no more bids. The current winner's name is golfertowel. This means to me that he probably doesn't care too much about winning the bike, most golfers I know prefer to drive than bike. But this also means he likely has money and has already bid more than the worth of the bike. This is the difficulty with eBay's auto bidding system. I think I'm going to attempt a double-snipe technique I've invented. I'll bid a smaller amount a few minutes before the end and see what happens. Then at the last minute bid my maximum. The seller wants payment via money order, I would be wary of sending a load of money to some dude I don't know, but he's got 99.8% feedback from 1130 transactions. I'll be just fine.
8 minutes, I'm going to get ready to pre-snipe. Really I'm probably trying way too hard. Very few want to buy road bikes in January. But I'd be bummed if I missed this one.
Pre-bid has been made. I'm the winner so far, only jumped a little too, this is working out in my favor. Now lets see if my pre-bid spurs any other last-minute snipers. I'm likely about to get a once-$800 bike for $86...
Bite, someone matched my bad. Now I wait...
-BANG- I bid my maximum, a good value for the bike, but but still a tasty deal for me.
I win!!!! During the course of the sniper battle I spent $44. The end total being $130. I'm happy. I will have a shiny new bike coming in the mail soon. Then comes the mad-science....muahaha.
